I don't run often. I enjoy running but for whatever reason, I don't feel motivated to get up and go for a run.
I like running when its warm out and especially if I'm in a scenic environment. I usually end up going for a run when I'm on vacation because I love running on the beach or when I need a moment to meditate. Running provides me the opportunity to clear my mind and focus on one thing at a time.
I have tried running programs before and did experience some progress. This past Fall, a friend and I committed ourselves to a running program. We were doing really well until we decided to run on a cool night. Both of us caught colds that turned into bronchitis/asthma. Needless to say, we both ended up too sick to run - even indoors.
As I near the end of my 90 days on p90x, I wonder what my next exercise endeavors will be. I have plans to take some kickboxing classes, an exercise bootcamp, strip tease and pole dancing but what about running?
While searching for a program, I came across The Couch to 5k program.
Sounds catchy enough, right? Maybe it'll be just as fun? I'm not a fan of doing exercises you don't enjoy and I wouldn't recommend that anyone start a running program if they just don't like it but the thing is that I ACTUALLY DO. I just haven't gotten to it. So, why not start now (or soon enough)?
The program sounds very straight forward.
Each session is no more than 20 minutes long and it's recommended you space out your runs during the week for only three days in a week. You can base your progress on distance or time. I'd probably do distance.
In 9 weeks, I can hold my own at a 5k.
Hmm . . . I'm going to look into some 5k's, sign up and set a goal.
Anyone want to join me in the challenge?
