Today was Day 1 of Week 1 of my Couch to 5k program. The program is set up to take someone who isn't a runner, to the point where they can run a 5k in just 9 weeks!
It's a 3-day a week workout. Ideally, you want to take breaks between days and do other activities in between to help build stamina and cardio strength.
I downloaded the free version of the C25k app on my Android and I love it so much that I am going to pay for it. It allows you to play music as you run and it alerts you with a beep that it's either time to run or time to walk. The display is very simple and the lack of fancy settings makes it real easy to use.
Today's workout consisted of a brisk five-minute warmup walk, followed by alternating 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. I MADE IT.
The next two days will consist of the same workout. Every week, you take it up a notch. Can't wait to sign up for my first 5k run.
