I know I can't even run a straight mile yet but the mechanics of running is getting a lot easier. This morning, I completed week 4 of the Couch to 5k program. This week consisted of a 5 minute warm-up, 3 minute run, 90 second walk, 5 minute run, 2 minute walk, 3 minute run, 90 second walk, 5 minute run, 5 minute cool-down and then the stretch.
I was dreading this week because it was the first time I was going to run 5 minutes straight, but it wasn't so bad. Sure there were some pain signals sent to my calf muscles and yes I got a little winded but I just kept breathing and running, and I did it over and over again on three different days.
That's the point. Most people only workout to the limit they set for themselves. They never push further and then wonder why they aren't seeing results. Next time you are working out and say, "that was 10 (enter exercise here), I'm done." Try to go for one more and then maybe another. You'll see that sometimes your mind is telling you to stop before your body is ready to. Keep pushing forward and you'll see amazing results.
On to week 5!
