Half-Marathon Training For Rookies

So ... by now, you all know that I am training for a 5k . . . my first 5K run ever. I haven't signed up yet but I am pretty sure I'm doing the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on September 18th. Actually, by the end of this week, I should be running a full 25 minutes without rest in between. That sounds absolutely insane to me, yet exciting.

What sounds even more insane is the thought of running a Half-Marathon.

I know that some of you who are supporting my new running endeavor are more experienced runners so I found a link on fitbie for YOU. It's a plan to prepare for a half-marathon.

The plan was created by Runner's World, "to boost endurance and improve speed." You really can't start this plan if you aren't comfortable running 3 miles (or maybe even 5). I'd suggest working on that first but if you're already there and you're willing to forego all other workouts to commit to their 10-week program -- this is the program for YOU.

It's a 7 day/week schedule that includes four days of running and three days of rest. On rest days, you're allowed to stretch, practice yoga or swim BUT that's it.
