On Saturday, my man and I attended the Peekskill Hudson Hop and Harvest event in Peekskill, NY. We took the Hudson Line up from Yonkers straight to the location of the event and met up with a few friends. Luckily, the Peekskill Metro North Station is a very short walk to their waterfront park and we didn't have to worry about catching cabs, etc. Cabs in the cities, towns, and villages of Westchester are the worst!
It seems like everyone who was on our train was also attending this event. People jumped on the Metro North from all over Westchester and even New York City. I believe this was the 2nd year they ever ran this event and word spread all over the region. I'm so happy people were drinking responsibly.
Basically, it's an outdoor eating and drinking festival. For an all day drinking event, EVERYONE (I think) was in their best behavior. The event ran from 2 - 9pm incident free (as far as I could tell). I loved the view, the food, the music, and the company. We had a great time.
The beer sponsors for the event were: Peekskill Brewery, Newburgh Brewing Company, Keegan Ales, Captain Lawrence Brewing Company, Bronx Brewery, Blue Point Brewery, Troegs Brewery, Sloop Brewing Company, Smuttynose Brewing Company, Brewery Ommegang, Victory Brewing Company and Doc's Draft Hard Cider.
I'm not a big beer drinker, but I did enjoy some wine thanks to Dylan's Wine Cellar. Thank you Dylan's!!! Next time, they should have the wine at every tent or set up separate wine and beer lines. There were lines everywhere but because there wasn't anything else to do people didn't mind standing on line. It was a great way to meet other people and some guys were even using the lines to practice their best pick up lines. That was hilarious.
I wish I had taken more pictures but here is a little collage of the photos I took throughout the day. I highly recommend this event and the City of Peekskill for your dining and entertainment pleasure.
