Last week, I was finally able to participate in the Tour de Bronx. I signed up last year and was unable to go. So happy I finally was able to do it because it was a blast. 25 miles through some areas of the Bronx I have spent little time in and others I know very well. I rode right past my old neighborhood and my boyfriend's parents house. Pretty fun. The best part of the tour was all the cheering. Residents of the Bronx make a real effort to make riders feel welcomed and motivated to finish. I sure needed it, especially during the never ending hill climb that is Astor Avenue. Never knew how steep it was until last week.
I found the Tour de Bronx to be harder than the Five Boro, more fun, and much prettier. So many beautiful gems in the Bronx. The best part of my tour was the people. I rode the entire 25 miles alongside my boyfriend's brother. I think it was a great bonding experience...hope he feels the same. I also had the pleasure to meet @jomak_ny who I follow on Instagram and the very friendly and inspiring woman who runs the blog, FB page, and Instagram feed of TheAwesomeMom...Amy. I've been following her for two + years and it was such a pleasure to finally meet.
My goal for next year is to do the 5 boro and all the individual borough tours. Below are some pics of my ride.
