Hudson Valley Restaurant Week at The Cookery

Today, for lunch,  a girlfriend and I visited The Cookery in Dobbs Ferry for their Hudson Valley Restaurant Week lunch. Since as far as I could remember, I've had different people tell me this place was amazing and I needed to try it out. I don't come to Dobbs Ferry often, but I finally had the opportunity and I couldn't pass it up. image

They were all right about The Cookery. This place is good. For $20.95 each, we ate well and took home leftovers. The place was completely empty at noon. I hope that was just a freak accident because the food was so good, this place should always be bustlin'. The waiter was also very kind to work with us. Both my friend and I are a little finnicky, but he allowed us to make substitutes. When we told him we wanted to skip on dessert, he offered up another appetizer as a replacement. That doesn't happen everywhere you go. Usually you have to eat what's on the prix fixe menu and if you don't want dessert, well too bad. I am impressed.


We ordered and shared the crostino of fresh ricotta, topped with truffle honey and thyme; buttery salty potatoes with parmigiana slavenian fleur de del; fried brussel sprouts with gorgonzola spice; fresh mozzarella made right before we arrived; my friend had the meatballs and I had the cauliflower ravioli with lemon brown butter, garlic, toasted bread crumbs and parmigiana.


The food was absolutely delicious but definitely on the heavy and salty side. I am happy I had a friend who eats just like I do and we just picked on the foods and savored all the amazing pairings. It does look like the main event for this restaurant is a pig roast and other pork-related meals but I don't eat pork so we didn't try it. I would definitely return to The Cookery again. It's small and very welcoming. Great place to dine.

Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is going on until November 17th. You should definitely take a look at their website and stop by a few restaurants you've never tried before. You may find a new favorite local restaurant to frequent.

Focus T25 Day 10 and 11

Day 10 Yesterday was pretty uneventful. Lots of work. Volunteering, Zumba, and Speed 1.0. Two of my Zumba peeps did the routine with me. I'm starting to really like doing this workout with friends. I still miss my little nephew. His comments were hilarious. Especially when Shaun T said "squeeze your glutes" and he would literally squeeze his butt. LOL.

The best part of yesterday was cooking with my CSA vegetables. I love Wednesday for so many reasons. My CSA pickup is one of them!

Here were my meals:

Day 10: B: Chocolate Vegan Shakeology w. Mango and vanilla soy milk S: One Trader Joes blueberry waffle L: One egg scrambled with onions and peppers S: Chocolate Chip Clif bar D: Cucumber, onion, tomato, banana pepper, lemon basil and olive oil salad and homemade babaganoush

Day 11

Today was crazy. I was really busy at work and didn't have my act together when it came to food consumption. First off, I'm all out of my Chocolate Vegan Shakeology and that makes me sad. I also have the Vanilla one but it tastes gross to me. It has this really weird NON-Vanilla-like taste. Feels like I am drinking medicine! I didn't want to have it in the morning so I opted for Blueberry Waffles from Trader Joe's and Coffee. Not the most well rounded meal. I know.

But that wasn't the worst part because when I am bad. I. AM. BAD. So ladies and gents, at lunch.... I had this:

I couldn't help myself. I was at a lunch event for work and I did pretty well choosing my actual meal from the buffet but when they put the dessert on the table --- I couldn't say no. Would you say no to THAT?

Anyway, I put it on my plate and began enjoying it UNTIL I thought about my Beachbody Challenge team and then it wasn't worth it anymore. I knew they would forgive me but they are all keeping on track and doing their best to change their eating habits, how could I BE THE WEAKEST LINK? I couldn't and I gave up. Four bites into it and I pushed the plate away. But oh WAS IT GOOD. Soooooooooooooooooo goooooooooood.

I managed to redeem myself in the evening. Here were my meals:

B: 2 blueberry waffles with coffee

L: Vegetable Linguini, chicken, and side salad. 4 bites of chocolate flourless cake

S: Cucumber, tomato, lemon basil, banana pepper salad with olive oil


D: Vanilla Shakeology w. Skim milk, 2 peaches and banana.
